West Ham are interested in acquiring Besiktas’ Chilean midfielder Gary Medel.

Last summer, the head coach of the Hammers, Manuel Pellegrini, significantly updated the London team with the help of transfers and will continue to do so in January.

Sky Sports has learned that West Ham are already working on Medel’s acquisition and will send a delegation to Istanbul in the coming days to settle all the issues with their colleagues from Besiktas.

Pellegrini’s compatriot already had Premier League’s experience in Cardiff, where he became a record acquisition in 2013. The club bought Medel from Sevilla for £11 million. The next year, after Cardiff’s departure to the Championship, the Welsh club sold Gary to Inter for £10 million.

31-year-old Medel has huge experience, including the international one. Gary has played 114 matches for the Chile national team.

According to the Evening Standard, Samir Nasri can become another West Ham’s January newcomer. The chances of the Frenchman to get a contract before the end of the season increased sharply after Jack Wilshire’s ankle injury.
