Vertonghen becomes Player of the Week

UEFA has announced the best player of the week in the Champions League.

It is Tottenham’s performer Jan Vertonghen, who scored a goal in Wednesday’s home match against Borussia Dortmund (3-0) and participated in another goal, thus helped his team to attain a difficult victory.

In the fight for this award, the 31-year-old player win the battle against Roma midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo, PSG performer Marco Verratti and Real keeper Thibaut Courtois.

In the current draw of the Champions League, Vertonghen has played 4 matches for Spurs, scoring 1 goal and giving 1 assist.

Moreover, Tottenham were the first English team for the last 8 years to beat the German Bundesliga’s representative in the UCL playoffs.
