Ajax Executive Director Edwin van der Sar is going to refuse to return to Manchester United.

Being a goalkeeper, Van der Sar spent six successful seasons at Old Trafford. Together with the Red Devils, Edvid won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, the League Cup and the Club World Cup.

At the moment, the 48-year-old Dutchman is the boss of Ajax, ensuring the Amsterdam club success on the field and beyond.

In recent years, Van der Sar, along with Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars, have sold players for more than 200 million pounds. This didn’t prevent the club from obtaining the Eredivisie title and winning the Dutch Cup in the current season. In addition, in the next week, the Amsterdam club will determine the Champions League finalist in the confrontation with Tottenham.

According to the Daily Mirror, taking into account all these factors, United identified Edwin as an ideal candidate for the technical director position.

However, Van Der Sar not ready to leave his job in Amsterdam and even believes that returning to United will become a step back for him.

At Ajax, Van der Sar has incomparably great influence – for example, Edwin is responsible for the club’s commercial activities, while Ed Woodward is in charge for that at United.
