Manchester United are ready to offer their goalkeeper David De Gea a contract with the highest base salary in the Premier League history.

At the moment, the Red Devils are choosing a new permanent head coach and looking for a suitable specialist for the sporting director position. However, extending cooperation with De Gea is no less important task for Ed Woodward.

As it became known to The Times, Woodward is ready to confirm De Gea’s team leader and one of the best goalkeepers in the world status.

At Old Trafford, they agree that the best player in the team in several previous seasons has earned his reward.

According to the publication, David will receive a five-year contract with a guaranteed income of over £90 million. Thus, De Gea’s base salary, without taking into account various bonuses, will be about £350 thousand pounds a week.

Thus, the 28-year-old Spaniard, if he signs a new contract, will overtake Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and his team-mates at United – Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.
