United extended contract with Martial until 2020

Manchester United took advantage of their option and extended the contract with striker Anthony Martial for 12 months. However, this news can hardly be regarded as positive for the club from Old Trafford.

Recall last summer, Martial strongly quarreled with the sacked coach of the Red Devils, Jose Mourinho, when he, without warning, interrupted the team’s preseason tour for the sake of his girlfriend in Paris.

According to rumors, Mourinho was eager to get rid of Anthony, but the club did not want to part with the player, in whom large amount of money had been invested, and who was still young enough to reach his potential.

The 23-year-old Frenchman returned Mourinho’s trust, and scored seven goals in eight Premier League games from early October to early December. It was during that period when the club management turned to Martial about a new deal.
