United are confident in new contract with Herrera
Manchester United are confident that midfielder Ander Herrera will sign a new contract with the club in the coming weeks.
Representatives of the Spain national team player established a dialogue with the Red Devils’ executive director Ed Woodward a few months ago, but Herrera rejected his club’s first proposal.
As reported by The Times, United were ready to slightly increase the midfielder’s salary of £75 thousand a week. Ander believes that he deserves better conditions, especially under a contract that may be the last big one in his career.
Negotiations have continued after Herrera’s refusal, and the parties managed to come close to a compromise by now. United bosses are confident that Ander will connect his future with the Devils soon and save the club from speculation in the winter transfer window.
Herrera’s current contract expires at the end of this season. Ander has played 118 matches for United in the Premier League and scored 11 goals after his move from Athletic Bilbao for £29 million in 2014.
