UEFA Europa League: Zenit vs Fenerbahce – match preview
On Tuesday, February 12, Fenerbahçe will meet with Zenit in the Europa League 1\16 finals at home. The meeting will be held at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
The Turkish club is going through hard times. It was shaken by conflicts and scandals in that season, and four people have already managed to work as the club’s head coach.
In January, the Istanbul club reinforced the line-up, although managed to include only three newcomers in the list of players submitted to the Europa League – Victor Moses loaned from Chelsea, Sadık Çiftpınar, and Besiktas’ centre-midfielder Tolgay Arslan.
Fenerbahce are occupying 14th place in the Turkish Super League on 23 points. Their goal difference is 22-28, Andre Ayew is the club’s top scorer with 5 goals.
Zenit broke up with Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes during the winter break but fortified with striker Sardar Azmoun.
Emiliano Rigoni, Yuri Zhirkov and Christian Noboa also won’t help the team tonight.
Matches in Turkey are always difficult, moreover Fenerbahce have always been confidently playing at home, even when they were going through hard times. We predict that the Turkish club won’t lose at home.
Even in their lost matches, Fenerbahce conceded not many goals and Zenit’s defense is at a high level. We don’t expect a large number of goals in the match. Bookmakers consider Fenerbahce a favorite of the match. The win for the home team is given odds of 2.55, whereas for a draw – 3.20, and for Zenit success – 2.95.
