UEFA Champions League: Porto vs Liverpool – preview, line-ups, prediction
On Wednesday, April 17, Porto are to play against Liverpool at home in the Champions League quarter-final return match.
Liverpool have approached this confrontation as a clear favorite, especially considering how easily the Reds passed their opponent last season. In the first match, Jurgen Klopp’s team confirmed its status, having attained a landslide victory with a 2:0 score. Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino took part in both goals of the hosts and received the Champions League player of the week award.
Jurgen Klopp’s wards shouldn’t face problems in the return match too, even though it will be held in Portugal. Liverpool continue to fight on two fronts and have not faced any problems so far. Last weekend, the team achieved a very important victory against Chelsea (2:0) and kept the lead in the EPL standings.
Although, Porto lost in the first match, they didn’t look so helpless. The Dragons were creating dangerous moments near Alisson’s goal regularly, but either the Brazilian rescued his side, or the team’s attacking players didn’t have enough luck.
The teams approach the return match without any composition problems. Only midfielder Jesus Corona’s appearance is questionable at Porto – the player has problems with his ankle. However, Sergio Conceicao will be able to count on defender Pepe and midfielder Hector Herrera, who served a suspension in the last game.
Left-back Andrew Robertson, who also missed the first bout because of suspension, will be able to help his team tonight. Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continue the recovery process, and Jurgen Klopp probably won’t risk their health.
