Salah, Mane & Mahrez among main contenders for African Footballer of the Year award

The African Football Federation (CAF) announced the list of 34 applicants for the 2018 continent’s best football player award. CAF official Twitter announced that today.

It includes such famous footballers as Mohamed Salah (Egypt, Liverpool), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria, Manchester City), Sadio Mane (Senegal, Liverpool), Ahmed Musa (Nigeria, Al-Nasr) , Alex Iwobi (Nigeria, Arsenal), Hakim Ziyech (Morocco, Ajax), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal, Napoli), Medhi Benatia (Morocco, Juventus), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon, Arsenal), Naby Keita (Guinea, Liverpool), Yacine Brahimi (Algeria, Porto).

The winner’s name will be announced on January 8, 2019 at the official ceremony in the capital of Senegal, Dakar. Liverpool’s forward Mohamed Salah received the award last year.

It is Salah, together with Riyad Mahrez and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who are called the main contenders for the award this year. All three players demonstrated a great game in 2018.
