Premier League: Liverpool vs Chelsea – preview, line-ups, prediction
Liverpool will meet with Chelsea in the Premier League 34th round central match at Anfield and try to prevent the 2013/2014 season’s misfire.
The Reds have no right to misfire if they want to win the league title at the end of the season. Virtually the same goes for Chelsea: Maurizio Sarri’s wards cannot afford to lose points if they want to finish in the Premier League’s TOP-4.
It can be expected that both teams will approach the meeting in a fighting mood, as each of them wants to earn three points today. Probably, the Blues could agree to a draw, given the fact that Liverpool rested for two days more – on Tuesday, the Reds hosted Porto in the Champions League while Chelsea went to the Czech Republic on Thursday, where they opposed Slavia.
Everyone remembers the same duel in the 2013/14 season when Steven Gerrard slipped and made it possible for Demba Ba to use that situation and to deprive Liverpool of the champion title. In this case, it is appropriate to compare the situation, because the loss of points in the 34th round match may cost Liverpool a trophy again.
There are no losses in both teams’ compositions: everyone is accustomed to the absence of Oxlade-Chamberlain, and only Gomez and Lallana’s participation remains to be questioned.
Recall that the first round match ended in a draw – 1:1. Chelsea were close to inflicting the first defeat in the season to Liverpool, but Daniel Sturridge levelled the score in the 89th minute of the game thanks to a brilliant long-range shot.
