Neville believes that Ozil isn’t suitable for Emery’s football
Sky Sports expert Gary Neville believes that midfielder Mesut Ozil simply has no place at Unai Emery’s Arsenal.
Recall, Emery himself decided not to use Ozil in a recent match against Bournemouth, and a week later Mesut was out with an injury and lost the opportunity to play in the derby with Tottenham. According to Neville, the Gunners are doing fine even without their highest-paid player.
Everything was different in the derby against Tottenham and that shocked Neville. He liked to watch the Spurs in recent years, but they lost to Arsenal in that match, primarily in terms of physical fitness.
All that happened was Arsenal’s collective achievement. The fans, the coach and the club are united again and work together for the result.
But the harsh truth is that Mesut Ozil wouldn’t be able to play in that match. Just because the German wouldn’t be able to perform the actions that the Spanish specialist requires from him. Ozil is a great player and one of the best midfielders in the world. But the realities of modern football, especially in England, require the midfielder to run 17 kilometres per game and to press constantly.
Unai Emery changes the psychology at the club and has already changed Arsenal’s style. It is no longer an orchestra of dreamers who express themselves on the pitch. This is a team of fighters who play tough and do not hesitate to provoke an opponent to fouls now. Ozil simply has no place in such a team.
