In a game that will not be satisfying to either team, New York City FC traveled to Minnesota United for a 3-3 MLS final on Saturday.

For Minnesota (3-2-1, 10 points), it was the opening match at their new Allianz Field after spending the first five games of the season on the road, and the team was unable to produce a win for their fans.

For NYCFC (0-1-5, 5 points), it was the fifth draw in six games as the team has yet to win a game.

Trailing 3-2 at the break, NYCFC drew even in the 64th minute when Ismael Tajouri-Shradi scored his second goal of the game, this off a free kick. The kick came from the right side of the field and the curving shot found its way through five Minnesota defensive players before getting past goalie Vito Mannone to make it 3-3.

The first half was thrilling, as the two teams went back and forth, at one point scoring four goals in an eight-minute span.

Osvaldo Alonso scored the first goal for Minnesota in the new stadium when he volleyed home a shot from 12 yards out in the 13th minute for the 1-0 lead.

NYCFC drew even three minutes later when a bad giveaway from the Minnesota backline gave the ball to Tajouri-Shradi, who found a breaking Valentin Castellanos. Castellanos put it home, making it 1-1.

Two minutes after that, Tajouri-Shradi gave New York the 2-1 lead when he knocked home a rebound of his own shot from 8 yards out.

Not daunted by allowing the two quick goals, Minnesota tied it 2-2 when Angelo Rodriguez headed home a cross from Ethan Finlay in the 20st minute.

A big mistake by NYCFC goalie Sean Johnson gave Minnesota the 3-2 lead. The New York defense played the ball back to Johnson, who tried to pull the ball back into his possession but pulled it right into his own goal.
