The Catalans and Argentina national team striker Lionel Messi has taken just 5th place in the vote for the Golden Ball 2018.

Thus, the 31-year-old Argentine finished out of the top three for the first time since 2006, when he took 20th place.

Note that Messi is a five-time Golden Ball winner, winning the award in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.

We told a few moments ago that the midfielder of Real Madrid and the Croatia national team, Luka Modric, won the Golden Ball award, what is presented by the French magazine France Football, for the first time in his career.

On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe got the best young player award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.
