Match preview: Manchester City vs Chelsea
Manchester City and Chelsea will meet in the central match of the Premier League’s 26th round.
Manchester City again host the team from the Premier League’s ‘big six’. After a successful match with Arsenal (3:1) and a victory over Everton (2:0), the Citizens set to meet with Chelsea. For Josep Guardiola’s team, it will be a good challenge in the fight for the title. Back in December, it seemed that three defeats from City would put an end to their title ambitions. But the team managed to return and pursue Liverpool.
Manchester City are very successful in games with the EPL ‘big six’ teams. Guardiola’s wards labored to win 6 of the last 8 matches with these teams. One defeat occurred in December’s match against Chelsea (0:2).
In general, Chelsea are not a very convenient opponent for City of Guardiola era. Pep has beaten Chelsea three times, suffered defeat four times, and another 4 matches ended in a draw.
On the other hand, Chelsea are clearly in decline now. Their results from the last five matches – 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw.
As for line-ups, Kompany and Mendy will not definitely play for City. Therefore, Laporte will again play on the flank. Moreover, in the starting line-up, we should expect Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne, who rested before the upcoming match with Chelsea.
Maurizio Sarri gave many players a rest in the match against Huddersfield, therefore the Blues’ main performers are expected to come on the field against City.
The Citizens are clear favourites in the home game, anyway we expect that Chelsea will manage to impose a struggle on their opponents.
