Match preview: Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid — Madrid derby

After Real Madrid labored to draw at Camp Nou, they go to Wanda Metropolitano, where Los Blancos will fight with Atletico in the Madrid derby.

The Mattress Makers are ahead of their more glamorous opponent by two points in the standings and are considered the favorites of the upcoming match.

While Real Madrid fight with Barcelona in the Spanish Cup, and will play the first match of the Champions League round of 16 against Ajax, Atletico concentrate only on LaLiga, as the Indians flew out of the Copa del Rey earlier, and will start in the playoffs of the European tournament a week later than Madrid. That is why they must take advantage of the situation.

On the other hand, Atletico may complain about the problem, that Real Madrid finally got rid of – a large number of injured players. Koke, Diego Costa and Stefan Savić won’t definitely play against Real Madrid.

Good news for the Mattress Makers – the return of Diego Godin and Saul to the squad, who also experienced health problems.

Interestingly, Spanish media wrote that Diego Simeone prepared Santiago Arias Naranjo as the main opposition to Vinicius Junior. Juanfran is likely to remain in reserve.

Real Madrid have no significant losses. Luca Zidane and Jesús Vallejo do not play any role in the team’s composition, so Santiago Solari can rotate his line-ups with a calm soul.

In comparison with the cup duel, several changes are expected in Los Galácticos’ squad. Thibaut Courtois will come on the field  against his former team, Casemiro is set to replace Llorente in the center of the field, and Marcelo to play on the flank of defense, as usual.
