Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, literally an hour before his dismissal, learned that the club planned to sign Juventus’ attacking midfielder Douglas Costa, reports The Sun.

In addition, Mourinho, before his departure, confirmed the club’s desire to sign a central defender in January.

Man United Executive Director Ed Woodward is personally interested in purchasing the 28-year-old footballer. He hopes to complete the transfer in January.

Costa has played 15 matches for Juventus in the current season in all tournaments, having assisted two times. His contract with Juventus is up to 2022.

The Red Devils’ new coach will have enough money to buy Costa. As reported by the Mirror, United leadership allocated €50 million to the Norwegian specialist for purchases during the winter transfer window.
