Defender Stephan Lichtsteiner doesn’t expect to stay at Arsenal for the next season.

Having joined Unai Emery’s team from Juventus as a free agent last summer, Lichtsteiner signed a one-year contract with the 12-month extension option.

This season, the 35-year-old Swiss has played 19 matches in the Gunners starting line-up. The defender himself understood that he didn’t do enough to convince the club to renew his contract.

Lichtsteiner admitted that he understood that it would be hard for him to stay at the club. However, no one knows how everything will happen. At the moment, the Europa League final is all he has in mind.

According to Stephan, he really wants to win this trophy with Arsenal and return the team to the top level – to the Champions League.
