Chelsea added Laurent Blanc to their shortlist of candidates to replace current head coach Maurizio Sarri.

Over the last weeks, Sarri has lost the trust of his own players, the club bosses and fans. The upcoming matches against Malmo in the Europa League, Manchester City in the League Cup and against Tottenham in the Premier League can prejudge his fate.

According to the Evening Standard, the Blues management is actively pondering over a number of specialists who could immediately pick up the team in the event of Sarri’s dismissal.

Previously, Zinedine Zidane and Frank Lampard were called as the Italian’s possible successors. Now they are joined by Blanc, who has been out of work after his departure from PSG in 2016.

According to the newspaper, Chelsea considered Laurent’s candidacy last summer, looking for Antonio Conte’s replacement. The Londoners’ director, Marina Granovskaia, personally met with former Manchester United defender, but in the end, the choice was made in favor of Sarri.
