Klopp can change his plans for the January window

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp may reconsider his plans for the January transfer window due to the loss of two defenders with injuries.

Recall Joe Gomez got a broken leg last week in the match against Burnley, and Joel Matip broke his collarbone against Napoli last Tuesday. Both players are out of action for a month and a half and will miss the most intense segment of the season.

These losses create significant stress in the Premier League leaders’ centre of defence. Now, only Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren remain among the core central defenders of the Reds.

Fabinho is the most likely candidate for a temporary transfer to the centre of defence. Giorginho Wijnaldum and students from the Liverpool Academy, Conor Masterson and George Johnston, can also play here.

However, the Liverpool Echo doesn’t exclude that Klopp will enter the transfer market in January for the sake of a defender in order to increase his team’s chances for success in the Premier League and Champions League, although Jurgen previously said that he didn’t plan to purchase any players in the middle of the season.

There are still more than two weeks before the resumption of the transfer window, and this period will show Klopp how much he needs another defender.
