The Brazilian forward Robinho will continue his career in Istanbul.

İstanbul Başakşehir agreed on the purchase of the striker from Sivasspor, the club’s official website reported. The 34-year-old Brazilian striker will reunite with Emanuel Adebayor, with whom he played for Manchester City.

Robinho began his career at Santos, after which he played for Real Madrid, Manchester City, Milan, Guangzhou Evergrande and Atletico Mineiro.

He joined Sivasspor in January 2018, even though he was sentenced to nine years in prison a few months earlier for participating in gang rape. Robinho denies any charges, and his lawyers are trying to appeal this decision.

This season, the Brazilian played 16 matches for Sivasspor in the Turkish Championship, in which he scored eight goals and gave two assists.

İstanbul Başakşehir completed the first round at the top of the standings, with a six-point lead from the nearest pursuer.
