Hodgson: Liverpool will lose points
Crystal Palace head coach Roy Hodgson is confident that his former club Liverpool will lose points and suffer a couple of defeats just like their main contenders – Manchester City.
Last Saturday, Hodgson presented an early Christmas gift to the Reds, achieving a sensational victory against Manchester City at Etihad with the score of 2:3.
Liverpool’s advantage over their main competitors in the Premier League’s title race has increased to four points thanks to this result.
However, Roy believes that nothing terrible happened for City – especially in light of the upcoming match against Liverpool, on January 3 at Etihad. Hodgson doesn’t believe that Jurgen Klopp’s team will pass the whole season unbeaten.
The English specialist believes that Pep Guardiola is hardly concerned about Liverpool’s 4-point advantage when another 20 matches are ahead. Everything will depend on City at Etihad on January 3. But even besides this match, Hodgson doesn’t believe that Liverpool will be able to repeat Arsenal’s 2003/2004 season achievement. This is simply not possible in modern football.
On the other hand, no one believed that Arsenal could do something similar in 2004. Therefore, theoretically it is possible, but Roy is sure that Liverpool will lose points where it is least expected of them.
