Guardiola won’t be looking for a replacement for Fernandinho in January
Manchester City’s head coach Josep Guardiola re-assured that his club wouldn’t buy a successor to defensive midfielder Fernandinho in January.
Fernandinho will turn 34 already in this season, so the club from Etihad has to think about who will replace the Brazilian in the nearest future. City are interested in many young midfielders, including Frenkie De Jong from Ajax.
Guardiola understands that it will be very difficult for Fernandinho if he continues to use him in every match. However, the manager isn’t going to enter the transfer market in the middle of the season.
Pep is aware that the manager cannot force a player to play every three days at this age. However, the coach won’t make panic-buys during this winter.
Moreover, the Spanish specialist is calm because his team has a deep composition. Ilkay Gundogan, Alexander Zinchenko, John Stones or Danilo can play in Fernandinho’s position. All these players are versatile and can play in several positions. Also, don’t forget about Fabian Delph.
