Firmino risks to miss first leg against Bayern
Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino missed his team’s final training session before today’s Champions League match against Bayern.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, the Reds’ head coach, Jurgen Klopp, said only that he would take a decision on Dejan Lovren at the last moment, and therefore the absence of the Croatian defender in the general group didn’t come as a surprise.
But Firmino’s absence during the training session was unexpected. According to Liverpool Echo, the Brazilian attacker was hit by a viral disease.
The Reds’ coaching staff and doctors still hope that Firmino will recover by Tuesday evening – in order to sit on the bench, at least.
If former Hoffenheim’z player can’t help his team, Daniel Sturridge will take his place in the team’s starting line-up. Daniel hasn’t scored since September.
