De Ligt – youngest captain in the Champions League semifinals history

Matthijs de Ligt led his team on the field of the Champions League semifinal match at the age of 19.

On the eve, Ajax beat Tottenham in the first match of the Champions League semi-finals, in London.

The Netherlands club was brought out on the field by central defender Matthijs de Ligt with the captain’s armband.

According to the official website of UEFA, at the age of 19 years and 261 days, he became the youngest captain in the history of the tournament semifinals.

The return match between Ajax and Tottenham will take place on May 7th.
