Copa del Rey: Real Madrid vs Barcelona – preview, line-ups, prediction

Today, February 27, the Copa del Rey semifinal 2nd leg between Real Madrid and Barcelona will be held in Madrid.

Earlier this month, Real quite unexpectedly achieved a good result in the first semifinal match against Barcelona at Camp Nou so Solari’s team has excellent chances to reach the final.

Nevertheless, it is foolish to believe that Barcelona won’t be able to give a good fight to Real in Madrid. In recent years, it hasn’t been difficult for the Blaugranas to achieve success at Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid and Barcelona will play at Bernabeu in various tournaments twice in the next few days. Barca need either a victory or a goal-scoring draw today. As for the hosts, they are well aware that it will be almost impossible to keep a clean sheet in such a match. Also, it’s hard to believe that no goals will be scored tonight.

As for the teams’ line-ups, there are few questions to the Madrid side. Solari will have to choose between Reguilon and Marcelo, Kroos and Ceballos, as well as between Lucas Vázquez and Gareth Bale.

Barcelona will take control of the ball from the first minutes and try to systematically destroy the opponent’s defense. In this case, Real will try to play on the counter attack in the hope of fleet-footed Vinicius and Lucas Vasquez (or Gareth Bale).

Possible line-ups:

Real Madrid: Navas — Marcelo, Ramos, Varane, Carvajal — Ceballos, Casemiro, Modric — Vinicius, Benzema, Vazquez

Barcelona: ter Stegen — Roberto, Umtiti, Pique, Alba — Rakitic, Busquets, Vidal — Messi, Suarez, Dembele

Date: 27/02/2019

Time: 8.00pm GMT

Venue: Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid

Prediction: 2:1
