Manchester City are getting closer to acquiring Sporting and Portugal national team’s midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

24-year-old Fernandes is one of the brightest stars in his homeland and has simply outstanding performance indicators in this season – 22 goals and 14 assists in 39 matches.

Atletico Madrid and West Ham were trying to lure Bruno last summer. Since then, interest in the Portuguese has only increased, and the club from Etihad has become a favorite in this fight – Sky Sports reported that.

At this moment, City are actively communicating with colleagues from Lisbon about the amount of compensation for Fernandes. It is about release clause in the amount of 40-50 million pounds.

At City, Fernandes could become both a successor for Fernandinho, who turned 34 last weekend, and a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, who has not agreed to a new contract.
