Carabao Cup final: Chelsea vs Manchester City – preview, line-ups, prediction

Chelsea will try to achieve the trophy, which may become the first one in Maurizio Sarri’s career.

Chelsea are in crisis and it’s stupid to deny it – Maurizio Sarri’s wards look very weak both in attack and in defense. The media is already saying that the 60-year-old specialist will be fired in case of defeat.

Sarri is criticized for his stubborn football, imposing almost the same composition, not being able to admit that Jorginho cannot cope with his role at Chelsea, as well as for his absolute trust in Marcos Alonso, who fails one game after another and is almost the weakest player in the team.

In addition, no one has yet forgotten the Premier League 26th round match at Etihad, where Chelsea humiliatingly lost to Manchester City, conceding six goals.

As for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola’s wards perform much better this season. The Citizens are in first place in the Premier League (having one more game played than Liverpool). City beat Schalke in the Champions League. In the FA Cup, Man City are to host Swansea. The Citizens must beat the Championship representative and reach the semifinals as well.

Possible line-ups:

Chelsea: Kepa — Azpilicueta, Rudiger, David Luiz, Emerson — Kante, Jorginho, Barkley — Pedro, Higuain, Hazard

Manchester City: Ederson — Walker, Fernandinho, Laporte, Zinchenko — de Bruyne, Gundogan, Bernardo Silva — Sterling, Aguero, Sane

Date: 24/02/2019

Time: 5.30pm

Venue: Wembley Stadium, London

Prediction: 1:3
