Chelsea risk losing Willian
Chelsea risk losing winger Willian because of their tough age policy.
In the next six months, the Blues will have to settle the issue with Willian’s future, because the current contract of the Brazil international expires at the end of the following season.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have already held preliminary talks with the winger. However, the rules established at Stamford Bridge allow the club to offer Willian to extend his stay at the London club only for 12 months.
This new contract may become the last major one in 30-year-old Willian’s playing career, so the Brazilian wants to get a good deal not only in terms of finance but also in terms of its duration – until 2023.
If the parties fail to come to an agreement in the coming months, Chelsea will probably have to think about selling Willian.
Manchester United, Barcelona and PSG were called among the main contenders for the player in two previous transfer windows.
