Chelsea furious at Courtois’ comments on Granovskaia
Chelsea bosses are furious at Thibaut Courtois’ recent interview and believe that Real Madrid’s goalkeeper lied to the media.
Last week, the former Blues’ player gave a frank interview to the Belgian edition of HLN, among other things, stating that he had a meeting with the Londoners’ director Marina Granovskaia in March, and she promised to let him go away from Stamford Bridge.
According to Courtois, Granovskaia didn’t keep her word, which was why Thibaut was forced to demand a move to Madrid with a scandal.
However, Sky Sports has learned that Chelsea strongly disagree with Courtois’ accusations and believe that Thibaut lied to reporters.
According to the authoritative publication, Courtois really told the Blues about his desire to leave, even before the end of the last season, but Granovskaia didn’t give Thibaut any promises regarding a possible transfer.
We add that Real Madrid acquired Courtois for £31.5 million in the end. Such a low cost was explained by the fact that Thibaut spent a long time pulling on the extension of his contract. After all, he asked to let him go to Madrid when one year of his acting contract remained. The Blues’ leader Eden Hazard is on the same path now.
