The Blues want to sign Real’s midfielder Mateo Kovacic on an ongoing basis.

The 24-year-old Croatian midfielder is spending the current season at Chelsea on loan.

According to the Evening Standard, the Blues are very pleased with Kovacic’s game and are going to sign a full-fledged contract with him. According to the publication, Chelsea have already begun negotiations with Real Madrid leadership about Mateo’s transfer.

Kovacic is getting much more playing time in London than he was receiving in Madrid, that’s why the player himself also prefers to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Real Madrid paid about €30 million for Mateo’s transfer from Inter, in 2015. Kovacic has played 12 matches in the current Premier League draw, having given one assist.
