Bundesliga: Schalke 04 1:2 Borussia Dortmund – preview, line-ups, Live Commentary

Franco Di Santo missed the match against Hoffenheim for gaming reasons, but he won’t play the derby due to injury. Schalke’s forward will return to work at least a week later and may even play in the last home game of the year against Bayer (December 19) if there won’t be more complications.

Schalke have real trouble with forwards. Breel Embolo and Mark Uth have been traumatized for a long time. Cedric Teuchert hadn’t been training in the general group for almost two months. And Steven Skrzybski is engaged in a lightweight program because of the huge bruise on his shoulder, which prevents him from moving normally.

Schalke and Borussia divided by 19 points in Bundesliga, and Lucien Favre’s team hasn’t yet lost a single match. But Domenico Tedesco remembers last season with awe. Then Schalke equalized 4 goals in one half at Signal Iduna Park and then won at home with the score of 2:0.

Dan-Axel Zagadou definitely won’t help Dortmund in the 174th Ruhr derby. Questions remaining about the other injured footballers. For example, Thomas Delaney and Bruun Larsen worked out in the gym on Thursday. Marcel Schmelzer, who hadn’t played since September 26, has finally returned to the main group, but Favre wasn’t sure whether he would play on Saturday.

Starting line-ups:

Schalke 04: Fahrmann — Stambouli, Sane, Nastasic — Caligiuri, Bentaleb, Rudy, Harit, Oczipka — Konoplyanka, Burgstaller

Borussia Dortmund: Burki — Piszczek, Akanji, Diallo, Hakimi — Delaney, Witsel — Sancho, Reus, Larsen — Gotze

90+2′ Schalke are trying to equalize very hard but nothing comes out. It looks like this is the first home defeat in the Ruhr Derby since 2013.

90′ 4 minutes added.

88′ Last sub from Favre. Sancho – out, Pulisic – in.

85′ WHAT A MOMENT FROM DORTMUND! Good counter-attack and Sancho from the left flank crossed to Guerreiro who blew right into the crossbar – no goal.

83′ Schalke have something about 7 minutes left to tie the score. Tedesco must invent something.

79′ WHAT A MOMENT FROM REUS! After a good combination with Sancho, Reus goes one on one just like the youngster a few minutes ago but Fahrmann saved perfectly that time.

72′ Substitution from Favre. Guerreiro – in, Bruun Larsen – out.

71′ Regarding the penalty: Marco Reus stepped on Harit’s leg in his own penalty area absolutely accidentally. You cannot blame Dortmund captain for a missed goal.

11′ It was noticeable that Borussia own the initiative in the first minutes but there were no dangerous moments. Goal came after a free kick, a great moment convertion.

8′ Reus performed a perfect cross from the free-kick from the right flank and Delaney completed the moment with a good header – 0:1.

3′ First moment from Dortmund – Hakim struck but not accurate.
