Bolton Wanderers will play their Championship game at Nottingham Forest on Sunday after the relegated club confirmed their first team players would be available, the English Football League (EFL) has said.

The fixture was in doubt after Bolton’s match against Brentford last weekend was called off when players confirmed they would boycott their remaining games in the second-tier league over unpaid wages.

The EFL will decide on Thursday what arrangements are to be made with regard to the postponed Brentford fixture. Its rules provide for a league match to be played within four days of the end of the regular season (May 5).

A Football League founder member in 1888, Bolton won the FA Cup three times in the 1920s and in 1958 but have struggled in recent years after relegation from the Premier League in 2012.
