Real Madrid’s forward received a slight damage in the game with Ajax. Thus, Karim Benzema risks to miss the upcoming match against Girona, Marca reports.

Benzema suffered a minor hip injury in Wednesday’s meeting with Ajax (2:1) in the Champions League’s Round of 16. The coach of Real Madrid, Santiago Solari, can provide a rest to the striker so that he can fully recover.

It is expected that Mariano Díaz will take the Frenchman’s place in the starting line-up.

In the current season, Benzema has played 38 fights for Los Blancos, scoring 19 goals and making 7 assists.

Benzema surpassed Hugo Sanchez (208 goals for Real) on the list of the best scorers in Los Blancos’ history and currently ranks sixth.

In order to enter the top five, Benzema is obliged to score 34 more goals and then he will beat legendary Ferenc Puskas (242 goals).
