Chelsea’s defender Cesar Azpilicueta has agreed on a new long-term contract with his club.

Azpilicueta has been performing for the Blues after his move from Marseille in 2012 for £6.5 million. Initially, Cesar arrived at Stamford Bridge as a right-back, but managed to play both as a left-back and as one of the three center-backs.

Also, Cesar has an impressive series of 74 Premier League matches in a row. The 29-year-old Spaniard showed himself to be a true leader, putting on the captain’s armband in Gary Cahill’s absence.

Azpi’s current contract expires at the end of next season, but The Telegraph learned that Cesar had reached an agreement on a new deal already, and the official confirmation would appear in the coming days.

It is expected that the new contract will be calculated at least until 2022 and it will increase Cesar’s salary from £120 to £150 thousand per week.

We add, that Chelsea also managed to solve issues with the future of Marcos Alonso and Ngolo Kante for the last two months. But the Blues aren’t capable yet to agree on a new deal with Eden Hazard.
