Arsenal will play the next weekend match against Southampton without three central defenders.

Recall that in the middle of the week the Gunners lost with injury Rob Holding, who broke a cruciate ligament in his knee in a collision with Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford and will miss about nine months.

The situation only worsened after Saturday match against Huddersfield. Sokratis received a yellow card for rough game, and Shkodran Mustafi got it for simulating. For both, that was the fifth yellow card of the season.

Thus, Sokratis and Shkodran will be disqualified for the match against the Saints. In this match, the Gunners’ head coach Unai Emery will have to compose the centre of his team’s defence from the flank defenders and Laurent Koscielny, who hasn’t played a single minute this season.

Note that Mustafi’s absence may not be limited to one match. The German had problems with the back of the thigh in the second half against Huddersfield.
