Arsenal are main contender for Cahill in January

The Gunners, in search of strengthening for their centre line of defence, can contact their main rivals from Chelsea for Gary Cahill. The defender has played only 7 games in the current season, one of which was in the Premier League.

Unai Emery can’t count on 6 defence players at the moment. Rob Holding was seriously injured and won’t  be able to play until the next season.

33-year-old Cahill, who has completely dropped out of Chelsea’s starting line-up in this season, and whose contract expires in the summer of 2019 could be the perfect player to help the Gunners to pass the second half of the season.

Such a deal will suit all three parties. Arsenal will get an experienced player almost for free, who has spent his entire career in the Premier League. Chelsea will be able to send their veteran to a well-deserved retirement with a good salary, while Gary himself receives an almost guaranteed game practice in the league and a chance of fighting for the Champions League zone.
