All bets are off: intriguing match in Belgrade
Red Star Belgrade will meet with PSG in the 6th round of the Champions League group stage in Group C at the Rajko Mitic stadium tonight.
PSG can qualify to the Champions League playoffs and, at the same time, risk to occupy 3rd place. Red Star Belgrade have chances to take that third place, and, at the same time, risk to stay with nothing. The match is full of intrigue!
Thomas Tuchel’s team, in order to count on the continuation of the struggle for the main European trophy, just need to beat Red Star Belgrade. But is it so easy as it may seem at first glance? The Serbian team hasn’t yet lost the hope of reaching the Europa League, so a warm welcome will be provided to the Parisians today. Liverpool were already convinced of the Red Crew’s strength when they lost there with the score of 2:0.
Truth to be told, a victory over PSG may not be enough for Red Star Belgrade to qualify into the Europa League. The trouble for the Serbs is that Liverpool must lose to Napoli at Anfield in order to fulfil the Serbians’ dreams. The alignment, frankly, is fantastic, but the story knows quite a few cases of such incredible interchanges. Oh yes, one more thing. PSG will be satisfied with any other result, except for a victory, if Liverpool don’t beat Napoli in a parallel match.
Thomas Tuchel was called to PSG for the sake of one goal – winning the Champions League. Imagine how much the coach and the management of the club will be criticized if the Parisians fail to leave the group. Such a result would be a real failure for PSG. Based on this, there is no doubt that Tuchel will throw his strongest players into the battle. And these players will be ready to tear and throw in order to achieve the goal.
